    Was received as a gift to family member in early 1920's. Children found the carved face back rather scary. Been handed down, but no clue as to its age or origin and have never seen another similar to it. Possibly oak, dark finish.

      Interesting question from Phil about possible Irish connection. Grandmother came from Ireland to U.S. in 1890's. Carrying suitcase only ... no chairs.
