I have these cards, passed along to me through my parents and their parents. This is an unopened pack, so I actually have no idea what the cards look like and what they entail (perhaps a game in of itself). To boot, I cannot find any information about the cards themselves.
You can clearly see "Ullom's Games, Inc." written along the side, as well as the company being based in Rogersville, PA. Searching the web, I have found copyrights dated Jan 15, 1935 via a Victor Hudson Ullom for "Dragonnet, the miracle of playing cards," as well as a copyright for musical compositions, titled "Do you play Dragonnet; w and melody" in July 13 1934. Ullom's Games, Inc. was reportedly founded on April 19, 1956. I can find little information about Victor Ullom, besides him appearing to be a WWI veteran and being buried in Center, PA.
On the top of the card pack there is a United States Tax Stamp, with the text "1 Pack; US.Int.Rev," which confirms the cards pre-date 1965. This particular stamp suggests the deck is likely dated between 1940 to 1965, which coincides with the establishment of the company (50's and 60's).
I am very intrigued by these cards, and was wondering if anyone here might have any insights into where these cards might come from or how I can go about finding more information.
I have this same thing. Mine is in the plastic wrap still. I have pics but not sure how to post them here as a comment.
I opened the deck. I just had to. Interesting, the deck comes with normal suites of playing cards, but the cards only go from 5 to Ace, as well as a "C" for what appears to be a Castle. In addition to four suits and thereby four castle cards, there are three "K" cards for what appears to be Knights, and one "D" card for a Dragon. Color me even more intrigued! I've seen rule books posted online before, so I would love to see if someone can make sense of what you do with the cards. Appropriate to their 50's/60's release, you can tell the cards were drawn by marker before printed, giving them a really unique and vintage look.
I also have a now opened game package. This was handed down to me by my father Willis Johnson, who is deceased many years now.
I also have 4 shares of capital stock, valued st $50 each from Ullom's Games, Inc.
Listed are Victor Ullom (President), Samuel M. Thomas (Secretary). Stock is dated August 30, 1956. My Father & these 2 men are reported to have invented this game. Supposedly it was sold to Milton Bradley or Parker Brothers as a basis for a popular game today. I think all initially involved are dead, can't find anything else out. But would love to talk/share any details I'm able to.
