I purchased this beautiful bowl many years ago, at a small antique shop in Budapest, Hungary. Since than, I am not able to tell, what I have. I just guess, it is Bohemian from around the 1920's, but I would love to be sure about it. It is about 8" long by 5" wide by 4" high. The upper layer is very dark opaque green and is cut back to a clear crystal with a beautifully detailed forest scene. 18 cut panel at the top, 18 cut panel at the bottom. The base of the bowl is flat and polished. Would anyone please help me on this item to identify?
Beautiful
I am glad, you decided to visit our country. :) If you want to collect Hungarian antiquities, like Herendi or Zsolnay porcelain, you should come to Budapest and go to Váci street. There are many-many antique shops and you can bargaining with them. Also you will find Bohemian glass, Austro-Hungarian silver and French crystal. But mostly European antiques. They don't know American things at all. :( About Hungary: Hungarian people are MOSTLY courteous and kind, BUT! Be careful with TAXi drivers, city restaurants and night bars. They like cheat foreigners and well overprice their service, drink and food (I am talking about Budapest city and Balaton lake area). Always talk (and ask) average people, they will tell you where to go for good (I mean REAL Hungarian) meal and decent service. Beware of gypsies!!! ;)
