Hello friends. Ok, there is a reason why I didn't have enough to purchase the early LCT gourd vase, and here it is! This Loetz Austria signed vase is from the Phanomen genres, but is an unknown decor. It has a two-tone amber shading to green base glass, with wonderful threads of red and brown throughout. The silver pulled decoration is similar to PG 7773 and PG 29, but is distinctively unique. The pinched 4-pointed top and dimpled sides are quintessential Loetz, and put all together this is a spectacular example of Bohemian glass (circa 1900).
Enjoy!
fantastic!
Thanks Alisa and Gary. :)
Looking thru the big shape book. I reckon it's already been looked for. I can't find it. there are some shapes with similar tripoint tops like this but not this one. I bet it's 1899
Thank you Dan for all the kind words. Its one of the most unique Phen Genre's I have ever seen.
(GSO) I agree it's probably 1899 or 1900. The signature does narrow it down some.
The shape has been researched I believe, and without luck I think. I still need a copy of the "big shape book" and all of the other expensive out-of-print Loetz books. I do not want to shell out several hundred (or more) but I probably will eventually. I'd even take an old beat-up copy if anyone wants to upgrade?
And of course; thank you Tony.
the big book starts at 1900.. that's why I guessed 1899.. :) (since it wasn't there) LOL.
Which loetz books do you have? I got my Cantz book in germany. they gave me a discount on it because it was in english (boohyah!!) but it was the one that came with a disc not the shape book.
I gotta say, the books are well worth it. They may have an expensive outlay but they really open doors for recognizing things that others might miss. You could do the I love lucy argument that you're actually saving money by spending the money. :)
I only have the Loetz Austria 1900 book (Neuwirth) and I will probably get the second edition since it is fairly easy to get. The Cantz book is the one I want, and it goes for big bucks. I'll keep looking!
And for the Lucy scheme to work I will have find a lot of bargains. :)
One of the finest iridescent art glass vases I have ever seen.....American or European.
Keep an eye out on German Abe and amazon. that's where I got mine from for like 125 dollars.
Lovely and rare, a great combination!
Thank you so very much LoetzBuddies and LoetzDance. I am very lucky to own such a wonderful piece of Loetz. And such praise from fellow collectors of the highest order is overwhelming. I am almost speechless (almost). Thank you, thank you...
