Greetings, I bought this clock several years ago at an estate acution. I dont know much about it, I just fell in love. It doesnt work, although I have wound it to hear it chime once. i have tried looking on the internet with out much luck, just wondering if anyone knows anything about this beautiful clock. I wish I could get it to work, but unfortunatley I do not know of anyone who fixes old clocks around my area.
Are you aware of the items in the bottom of the clock and what they are for?
It won't run without the pendulum being on. You don't move these with the pendulum on, but you have to put them back on to make them run.
From the photos I am unsure, but it looks like the other one is the winding key. Since you have wound it to hear it chime, I take it you knew that. Some times these get over-wound and that is why they won't run. One post winds the time keeping and the other the chime. If it is over-wound, you can release some tension by putting the pendulum on and pushing it sideways a little and let go. Repeat until it keeps going.
