I found these today at Goodwill as well. A wonderful pair of floral drawings in pastels on art paper. They are professionally matted and framed. The drawings measure 11 1/2 " x 16", in the frames they are 24 1/2" x 20". I found the one by itself and then the other farther down on the shelf. Finally a "pair" of something !...lol. I really hate when people tear into these professionally framed pieces. Guess they're looking to make sure it's real, but they do more damage than good. It exposes these old pieces to dirt and air. The one was fine I just taped up some tears in the brittle backing. The other was lose and had dirt between the glass and matting. It also has a bit of water wrinkle to the corner of the art paper. The corner of the back of the frame has a water stain too. I had to remove all of the back, carefully remove the drawing, clean the glass and reseal it. As far as the date goes I'll say late 1930's-40's. I'm using the phone number of the frame company as a guide. They used exchange letters and five digits (TYler 4-1064) from 1920 to just after WW II. Then they switched to just four digits and the exchange letters from late 40's through the mid 60's. I remember our phone number in 63' starting with PK for " Parkway" Area codes came into use by 1967. There was an old price sticker on the glass of sixty dollars. Maybe from an estate sale. I saved it and taped it to the back. Sure glad that's not what I really paid for them. but I might have they are that nice. -Mike-

So far nothing on the artist online. When I had the back off the one it actually had M. L. Kennedy written in pencil on the backer board. They are real pastels which are very delicate and smear easily if you aren't careful.

Just got back from huge McCoy auction. Donaldson family in Crooksville have collected for 50 or so years. And I got a piece for almost every year.

I live about 8 miles from Oberlin College. They have a few antique stores that I have never visited. The one I picked to go to has 17 vendors and two floors. Everything is tagged ID'd and priced. They even had a few pieces that I have. What a great place to ID some of my unknown things ! I have to say it's brain overload though. Just so much to take in and wanting it all ! I saw a pair of turquoise Royal Haeger art deco horses that I really wanted, but not for that price. I'll find them for a dollar some day...lol. Next I'll have to check out the art pottery store downtown, This place had no Roseville anything unless I missed it. -Mike-

Very pretty!.. I love the subtle colours used and great to have a pair I agree well done!...I am green with envy with the place you go to that has 17 vendors, there is nothing more satisfying than spending hours just browsing for that elusive treasure, finding or not! I live rural and my nearest town only has one small over priced antique shop and a couple of small charity shops and you have to be very lucky to find something there!....:-)

Thank you inky I love them too. Wish I could find out more about the artist though. Funny thing about the stores is they've been there for a long time I just decided to go today because they're close. I'm usually strictly a thrift store person. It's more fun that way. The retail stores are incredible though.

No did find a very early pedestal, will get jardiniere later. Good buy on it. Found some really rare stuff. Also got a frog (big) that Mr Donaldson had specially decorated for him from roseville. He came over and told me how to take care of it. I wish I had asked him a few questions about it but mind was on auction. Also found a few hull bowknot pieces. The hull pottery association secretary was there and asked me to join association. Another auction a guy on board of directors of roseville museam on roseville invited me to visit. Guess I have it bad when these guys approach me.

That is so cool that all those people approached you. Word must have gotten around that you really know your stuff !
