Just picked this up at an estate sale. Can't find any markings or anything on it. It is missing one leather handle and the front piece of the inside tray is missing. It looks like the cedar may have been a later addition to the trunk?

Wow. It looks as though the interior is in great shape. What material is the outside covered in? I agree that the cedar was added later and believe the exterior may have been refinished as well. I have never seen such an extensive lithograph on the lid of a trunk. Lovely and I love it.

Nice example of a tin covered trunk from around the late 1890's. The interior is nicer than usual for this type of trunk. Standard well built trunk in its day -- lots of unmarked trunks which was common. Yes the cedar was put in recently -- a good way to clean up the interior. Nice big lithograph on it too. More of a dome top trunk and less of a barrel top, as the barrel top typically have a higher center point (in my opinion). Thanks for the post!
