Can anyone tell me what this piece of furniture is? Dresser maybe? I like it because I've never seen anything like it. I plan on restoring it, just wanting to know what it is!!

At first I thought it might be a "gossip bench" if it had a pad on the lower part. Not sure but somewhere In the recesses of my cobwebbed mind I feel like I should know what this is. If it surfaces I'll let you know. It is a neat piece, so my curious nature will put me on the hunt for it.
