These are two small nippon pieces i picked up in a goodwill store for a couple dollars. I believe the one with lid is a salt cellar and second one i have no idea. Both are in nice condition and marked hand painted nippon.
Early Noritake mark- Morimura Bros 1910-20
Both look like they have moriage details.
I don't think that the second one had a lid....it fit so they put it there! Still nice Nippon. RER (BOB)
The little one is a toothpick holder. I have one exactly the same shape but with a different painting (I'm assuming this is very small, maybe 2" high?).
Pretty sure the second is not a salt cellar as they tended to be flat; the "master" was larger and there would be individual cellars for each place settings. I love my little ones; then again they may be individual nut dishes but I'm leaning toward a part of a set. (Must post mine soon.) I'm wondering if the footed piece is actually part of a woman's dresser set that included a hair receiver,, a covered trinket dish, a hat pin holder, and all on a matching tray. I agree with Loumanai about the top. Does this dish have a rim that looks unfinished?
