hi cw....I found this great little lacquered tea set the other day and just wanted to share....the seller did not know where the matching tea tray went...I hope to find a black lacquered tea tray with a bit of aging to it so it will match....it's black lacquer and very light weight....it has an applied golden dragon and I am guessing Chinese...there were no identifying marks anywhere...the set came with some little spoons and matching saucers....I am a dragon in Chinese astrology and like to collect anything with a dragon on it....thank you for looking and I welcome any comments or info regarding my tea set....love this site!

My father bought a set when he was in stationed in Hong Kong in the 50's. It was passed down to me, but my mother didn't take very good care of it and some pieces are broken or chipped. My father said it was made by the same artisan who made a chest for the queen or coronation (he couldn't remember exactly). The set is made from layers of linen and lacquer. When we were children, we tried to drink tea from it, but it tasted like paint....display only. There was never a tray. Dad said the dragons are covered with gold, but I'm not sure what is true. If I could find another set to replace my broken pieces I would.
