There is a reason why I know nothing about this piece. My Godfather and HIS Father have collected Art and Antiquities since Time Immemorial. My Godfather was moving and he gave me a box that had a couple of great old snuff bottles, and what looked like a little silk. When I pulled this out, we both turned dark mortified red and quickly changed the subject, but home it came with me. This is Art and it has never been treated like a Toy while in my possession!! It is about five inches long, and that is about all I know. Does anyone have a clue, where this might hail from? I love the freedom the Japanese have in their Erotic Arts, heck they wrote the book, "The Tao of Love and Sex"!! I hope this does not offend anyone, Love to the CW community, Michelle

Thank you so much bellin. I worried about this though I know there are few children here. This is indicative of the sexuality of a culture that is very well known, the very free and beautiful EROTIC ART OF JAPAN. Somehow the ""Wild In the Bedroom" doesn't jive with the stereotype...that's why it's so important to avoid Stereotypes!! I am so happy you see the humor, we are all grown up and the fact is, I don't know if you can tell by the pen, but it is small!! Not the least threatening. I just think it is wonderful that the Japanese even have a name for this sexual motif in sculpture, like Netsuke, where we puritanical Americans can't even talk about it much less give the Art Form a name,...we call it dirty pornography, it is too bad we are so ashamed of our bodies. As I said, this is certainly not a THREATENING piece!!

Your post was hilarious. I actually have a problem with an old piece that was passed on to me. It is actually quite innocuous looking and resembles a large locket until you open it. Oh the surprise!! I think it is some type of fertility piece. There is a sculpted nude male on one side and on the other is a sculpted nude woman and the piece is held together with a small steel hinge. It is highly erotic and I haven't seen a piece like it anywhere. When the piece is closed the two parts come together. I would love to know more about this piece but I have no idea of where I can post pictures and get information without upsetting someone. I'm seriously liking your spunk!!
