This is doll #4. I believe this is a composition doll. The body of the doll is cloth. Head, arms and legs are of other material. There are no markings on the back of the head. Its pretty beat up. The box I found it in had a wig in a seperate box. I think this may be the wig that went with it. I showed it in pic 2. I again no next to nothing about dolls. Any info, history, current value...etc...would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    L

OMG that is wonderful! The Clothes are fantastic! And the wig!! Are you kidding me? Yes she is beat up but she is great. Without a mark that would be so hard for me to know..You should take that girl to the eBay doll forum under "community" there are people there that will know that face, I'm sure of it

Thank you so much! I love your enthusiasm!!! Is the back of the head the only place there would be a mark? Is this an item that I should have a professional appraisal done? This doll was in the same box as the dress me dolls.

Professional? No. If you go to the boards they will give you an idea what you have there. The thing is most times you don't find composition "baby dolls" with hair, let alone clothes, and those clothes are really beyond sweet. There is a good chance the clothes are worth more than the doll. Although I swear I have seen her face before. The ladies on the board will tell you what you have, and might even lead you to a price. If not contact me with what they tell you and I'll help you out.

I hope you get a fast answer, collectively it's a great source. I have others I can contact but in general the doll board is the quickest

She never came back. But I see she did get an answer on the dollboard

Oh, i'm sorry. I was kind of waiting to see if anyone else commented on the thread, which no one has in awhile. Hey Vesta, how difficult/costly would it be to have her restored?
    9. Vestaswind Vestaswind, 14 years ago
I guess it depends on where you go. I'm not a fan of most people that restore dolls, they never look old again. If you could find someone to just do the back where she is peeling would be good. If not it could be as high as a couple of hundred. It's easier to ship if you take off her head. I know there used to be a girl on the ebay boards called Nativelady that is well priced and does a good job. You sould be able to contact her via ebay. You can explain you want to keep as much of the original paint as possible.

If it were me, I would clean her up (something with very little water because of the material) And put her wig on, you won't even see it. You will have to be very careful washing the doll clothes. There are some good site on line to help you with this. Here is a site on cleaning compositon

Also keep in mind if you have her fixed it's because you love her. She is an unmarked compo and it's not a good investment otherwise. The clothes on her are what is worth the most in this case.

Just FYI when I clean mine I use buffing compound or glass wax.
