Purchased this old beat up sign last summer in an antique store for $20 bucks. It's in rough shape but I think it ads lots of character to it. I have researched a lot and have only found 2 other examples of this type of sign. I'm pretty sure it is from the 1940's but other than that I don't know much else.

Your right, its most likely an early 1940's sign, or possibly late 1930's, does it have the trade mark in the tail of first "C"? If so its pre 1941 sign. There was a border around this sign, but unsure of its colour because it changed during late 30's into the 1940's. If its from the late 1930's it would have had green border, the ones from the 40's had yellow border. They also made this sign with the bottle slightly tilted instead of the bottle standing straight like yours. There was also couple different names for this image, bottle in the sun, bottle in spotlight, ect.

The trade mark is indeed in the tail of the first C. I wish the border hadnt been cutoff. Would be cool to see it intact!

I'm assuming I did pretty good for $20 bucks?

20$ is not that much to invest into a sign so IMO you did fine, its a good conversation piece but condition is very important. this sign could have been worth around 500$ if it were mint. I have gotten a few rough pieces myself, there good filler items until you find a better condition one.

Generally speaking, signs in this condition have no resale value. If you dig it, then it was worth the $20 you spent.

I love these beat up pieces that still find themselves getting hung on walls. Good eye!
