Strolling along the thrift, minding my own business and looking for treasures...wait! I never look at cups and saucers, but this one just captured my attention for a quick second. The style looked somewhat familiar...BAM! Vetriao likes this! Swooped it into my arms and quickly to the cashier. I was going to just mail it to V as a super surprise, but I am impatient. Plus the post office is looking like Mount Everest lately.

These are naval medals from the 60s if my quick research is correct. This particular pattern seem rather scarce but am by no ways a Fornasetti expert, V is... :00)))

I've been in a sauna all morning. The air-conditioner is not functioning properly and the technicians have been in about the heat control. I'm supposed to stay in while the whole thing happens downstairs but I am ready to get out! Hope you are all OK!

"Al merito"... I guess it's the same in Italian, in Spanish when they give you a medal, no matter you win it for military or social causes, it is because of a "merito" you've made... a merit, a good action and so on. We say "le otorgaron la medalla al mérito civil" (is it right translatring it as "he was awarded the medal of Civil Merit "?

So a cup and saucer set with lots of medals on them does deserve this "Al merito" name.
