I'd like to confirm that this planter and base are Majolica. My parents always said that this was an authentic piece but I can find no markings. Can anyone tell me what I should be looking for to confirm the authenticity of this lovely piece and the approximate value. Thank you from this Antique Rookie!

Right now I am just trying to identify the piece. It is lovely and was a precious possesion of my parents. I will be back at their home in a few days and am going to look for markings that might identify it. Do you have any thoughts on the history of this piece? Thanks!

I'll certainly keep that in mind. You can't know how many people over the past years have said exactly the same thing. I'm a glutten for detail and I really want to understand the history. Thanks for your interest :-)
