Not sure whether these are carriage lights or train lights. My brother-in-law was given them in partial payment for a job he did. Can anyone tell me anything about them?

I do not think they are railroad lights. Railroad lights are usually close to the Locomotive body with a slide in bracket, not extended out like these are.

OH ...no road trip?lol,If the have a bolt sticking out of the back, they are probably early car driving lights,if they have/had some sort of bracket that would slip into a holder,I would say they were carriage
