    Hi
Bought this trunk about a month ago,not sure of its history, measurements are 3ft across,19inches width,18inchesdepth.
There are letters on the front of the lid RF,it is in a bit of a poor state, but wood seems solid, the leather exterior has crackled, all the handles are there, there is a lock on the front, but no key,I just wonder if its worth restoring for my grandson for a toy box,I should also mention that there is a sticker on the left hand side(Cunard white star,F,tourist class baggage, hold)
Appreciate your thoughts on this one.

I think that if the wood is solid this will renew nicely with some work. I cannot tell if the top is flat or domed. What does the inside look like? There is the issue of the leather which is not likely to be restored without a complete redo. My preference is to bring the wood back by removing the covering and finishing the wood. I love the wood. The use as a toy box is a great idea but will require a special lid stay so that there will be no chance of it slamming down unexpectedly. There are a number of types to consider at any local hardware store. Good luck and have fun.
