I found this old Bronze stylized Cross in a box of costume and damaged jewelry at a sale recently and I am debating (with myself) whether I should clean it or leave it as is. I know that old bronze patination should not be touched on figurines, lamps etc... but the fine details on this cross would certainly be enhanced by cleaning it. It is quite large to wear as a cross (3 5/8" by 2 5/8") and weighs 91 grams. Is there a way to enhance it without removing the patination.......I did wash it with soap & water & old toothbrush. Let me know what you would do, thanks BOB (LOUMANAL)
I personally would do nothing.
Thank you Manikin, PhilDavidAlexanderMorris, inky and vetraio50 for the Love and for your suggestion vetraio50........you are probably right since it is an old item and should look it's age. RER(BOB)
Did you ever find out how old it was
Hi Paytonleathers! Thank you for looking at my uploads. Someone suggested that it could be 1950-1960's and possibly made at a Benedictine Abbey in Germany called Maria Laach. Usually their crucifixes were marked HERISTAL....this one is not marked. Robert
