Here is the DEP on walker body. She is really a beautiful early o/m version, as her eyes are paperweight and have upper and lower lashes. Superior bisque. Is this body correct? It sits well above the body, I think to be able to move freely. But is it too high?
    Thank you.

With this photo's back I can see what appears to be a repair on her back by neck ? It does look like it may have been broke the composition . Does it look like that to you . I do a lot of doll repair and photo #4 is one I see repair . That does not mean head is replaced but maybe positioned a bit higher because of moving it to repair compo. Tell me what you see there on that back shoulder ok

There is no repair to the inside of the neck. What I do see is the metal mechanism protrudes out of the opening and there is a metal disc attached to it, and above that is where the head rests. Inside the head, where the metal mechanism attaches, it is filled with plaster. The neck socket on the body has a spot where the paint is rubbed off of the cardboard surface. I suspect that the original head was broken off and when someone replace it with a different head, but rather than attaching the head the correct way just stuck it on top of the mechanism and filled the inside bottom of the head with plaster to hold it in place. The head could and would fit well, if the repair had been done the correct way. But I guess that would have required someone to disassemble the body.

If I am correct about the assembly I guess what needs to be done is have the head removed and re-attached the correct way.
      Your thoughts?

I am still questioning the body/head match. I have a c/m DEP doll, so I added a photograph of the two dolls, with identical markings. Both have a 17" body, which seems to make them both correct. I also added a better photo of the attachment. I wonder if someone took the head off at some point and put it back on incorrectly, or whether this is a correct type of combination, but that these two are not original to each other.

Maybe it's a Linda Blair doll. (Re: The Exorcist)

I see that neck area and it seems head was replaced either it came off and was reset wrong or a old replacement head was used and it is correct for the body but head is correct size for body and could be lowered but as I see it as long as it is firm why mess with it . She is a beautiful doll and just has a minor problem which if a person really wanted to could have it redone with risk of breaking head or mechanism . I would leave her and maybe discount a tad ( a little :-) . Stunning

For others to further explain this doll 1800's circa . They do not have country of origin on them so we know they are pre 1891 when they were required by Mckinley act to mark country on them .
Many French or German antique bisque dolls have DEP in the doll marking, plus the makers symbol, letters etc.
On a French doll DEP is an abbreviation for Déposé, on a German doll DEP is an abbreviation for Deponirt, both referring to a registered design in their respective countries.
The earliest DEP dolls have a closed mouth, later dolls have an open mouth. Some DEP dolls may have a Jumeau stamped body. Some later DEP bisque heads are thought to have been made by Simon & Halbig.
This doll has a French body called a marchant (walking) body. The body is made of composition . These are not common bodies to find .

I really appreciate you weighing in. I just heard from another expert/restorer and he is saying the same thing. Correct body and head put together the wrong. The person who wants to buy her is sure the doll is incorrect and wants it at a great discount so she can dismantle it. I may try to make the change myself or like you say leave it alone and offer her for slightly less. If I do that I will just add better photos and describe well and let the buyer makes the choice. I agree she is beautiful and has been one of my favorites. But I have another doll on layaway to pay off! I really really appreciate your help. Take a look army all bisque next to other early s&h girls. Yo are awesome!!
