This is a beauty! i think it's probably from Africa, but i know nothing about it. When i wet the stone, it's this beautiful green color - maybe serpentinite or nephrite [wishful thinking maybe?]. The piece is 23" tall by about 13" wide and it weighs a TON! Any info will be greatly appreciated.

I hate to categorize this as Folk Art, because i think it's more like fine art, but there's no category for that. grrrrr....

Hi, this is really a nice piece. What is the stone? I wonder if it is by an African artist but made in the USA? Suggest as the granite looking stone doesn't seem native to Africa.

      Very nice!
Is it from Africa, or done in the style of locally is the question I suppose.

I like how they use the various textures in the sculptures.
