I have a doll with no name. I have had my doll for over 20 years and 10 of those years, I have been searching for a name of my doll. I have taken pictures highlighting the main features of my doll. She used to have a mesh cover over her have (before I cut it off when I was a kid); that was as long as her hair and the actual color. There are no tags nor marks to give me a date of the doll or where the doll was made. I have an unknown doll that needs a name. PLEASE HELP ME.....ANYONE GIVE ME A NAME TO MY DOLL!
What is face made of ? Hard to tell by photo's . The body looks maybe homemade and I am wondering if she is a mask doll . You could buy the mask and sew the face on doll . Or buy kits . I need a side view of head please to help you .
Welcome to CW glad to have you with us .
The face is a hard plastic but like I said before there used to be a mesh cover (almost like a layer) that used to cover her face (the material was a panty hose like material). When I asked my mother about my doll, she said that she seemed to remember an article about it stating that the doll was discontinued because the material inside the doll was highly flammable. But, of course when I was a kid, I would have freaked out if she had gotten rid of her because she was (and still is) my best friend lol
See my other posts with pictures on them.
I do remember at one point there was a tag on the doll and the stitching on the doll seems to be manufactured anyway.
Hopefully you can help (or others) and thank you for welcoming me to this website. It is pretty neat
It is celluliod that was stopped because flammable . Your doll is called a mask face doll. The face is attached like a mask to blank head . These dolls were common in late 30's and into early 50's . Are the eyes painted on her ? The photo color is not good to see on PC. I have never seen and old mask face with that body . Does the material from body cover back of head ?
These dolls can still be made today only it is real plastic for face . Yours looks newer than 50's .
The eyes looked like they were painted on with a plastic paint. Face is the only part of the body that is a hard plastic.
I was kind of hoping to find a duplicate of my doll or find pictures of the doll that others may have.

Do you think maybe it was one of those big companies that perhaps made her from the 70s or 80s?
Is she wearing original clothes ?
here is example of what a mask face looks like before applied

No, those clothes have been long gone. My mom said that she may have worn a purple outfit to go with her purple hair. The plastic face wasn't smooth, it feels sorta scruf and there used to be a panty hose cover over the face
Her hair was purple ? I can't tell by photo . Ok I will try again . She is most certainly from 1970-80's then . It help knowing that
You can see another post I made of her in better lighting
