Each one is 12" in diameter, made of thick and heavy metal, and has lots of writing on it. i think that the numbers are probably the parking spot designations, although i'm not sure.

Wow, that's a early 1960's Econline van. I would probably try to to remove the numbers. Try heating them with a hair dryer to loosen the glue before peeling them off. If it's taking the paint with it leave it as is. My first car was a 1962 Econoline.
thank you rocker-sd. i just picked up five more signs just like it. each one has a different number on it, so i think i'll leave the numbers for now. i'm going to hang them all on the fence at my nursery. i'll post a photo of them all now.
