I purchased this yesterday. It's plaster and so is beginning to disintegrate. I'd like to put some kind of finish on it so it can be kept outside and so that it doesn't continue to disintegrate. does anyone have an idea of what i might use? otherwise, i may just grow moss on it and let it disintegrate. what do you think?
I'd take it inside! It's a nice piece of work!
if only i had room in my tiny garden house!
A recipe from an old book,
When perfectly dry they are painted with hot linseed oil, repeating the operation several times, then with linseed-oil varnish, and finally with white oil paint. Statues, etc., prepared in this way have been constantly exposed to the action of the weather for 4 years without suffering any change.
thank you walksoftly. that's great info.
You're welcome, glad to help.
I'm sure there are new products out there, but I would imagine that hot linseed oil would soak in real good. It doesn't say what kind, raw or boiled linseed oil to use.
