Can someone identify this lamp?

Hi, I was wondering if anyone out there might have any idea as to the history or the story of this lamp. I got it from my mother and she got it about 40 years ago from a friend that is no longer around. The dome is metal and it is cut with designs. I say it can be done easily todfay with laser machinery but I doubt this was done this way, It is heavy, it has a marble base.
