After hearing about my interest in foreign language and without ever meeting me, my wonderful Russian born friend Elena contacted me with an offer to teach me the language. Every Tuesday for three years, she taught me the language, invited me to amazing dinner parties, got me drunk on homemade vodka, and without ever expecting or asking for anything in return, she loved me like her daughter.
