I just picked up this painting from a friend for 10 bucks and cannot tell if its an original or not it looks like it I can see brush marks but not sure if someone else painted and signed his name???? any suggestions on worth?
Its on a canvas and stapled looks a little aged but not old....kinda cool portrait. Looks like a 16 x 20 fredrix stretcher bar....any info would be appreciated!
if you could post a focused photo of the beard area, we could probably tell you for sure. prints were also made which have a brushmark texture, but the marks don't coincide w/ the visible brushstrokes.
It's a mass produced hand painted old sea captain painting. Thousands were produced anonymously and are worth basically nothing although you will see them priced in the hundreds and even thousands with no buyers of coarse.
Looks like a few old "salts" I see around here!
