Renaissance Revival Walnut and Ebony Frame (c. 1871)

We picked up this beautiful frame for $16 at Goodwill in Napa, CA. We walked into the store, and there it was, waiting for us. The back was stamped with a name. After doing a little research we discovered that this frame came from a shop in the Grand Hotel in San Francisco that was the official Currier & Ives Depot. The owner of the shop was Bernard McQuillan. A perfect frame for a print of the Lameshur Plantation in St. John, USVI, which was owned at one time by my partner's great-great-grandfather's father-in-law.
