I love my mystery pottery and enjoy the thrill of solving them, but sometimes it's nice to have the pottery easily recognizable. These 4 vases are marked Belgium and are made by Faiencerie Thulin pottery company around the 1920's. I do have a possible unsigned Belgian vase and will post it separately hopefully someone will be able to confirm or deny whether it is.

Do you know if there is a collector's reference book or anything for Thulin pottery? A Google search didn't find much information for me.

I had a look too and their work is still not really appreciated in Europe. In one of the books on Belgian pottery « Faïence et Porcelaine en Belgique, 1700 - 1881 », Editions Racine (1999) the glazes are described as "dans le style pompier, il faut reconnaître qu’à Thulin on a battu tous les records ». Drip glazes and "décors 'flambés' " were overused !!

There's something about them in French here:

There's a video in French here that is really worthwhile:

      You could look here too:
      http://www.medium4you.be/La-faiencerie-de-Thulin,13554.html

It seems Willy Van Ransbeek had an e-journal on Thulin pottery. No idea if it is still going. It went to two issues in 2010.

      There's this too:

Thanks for all the links! I was able to learn a fair bit with the help of Google translate. I recently bought two pieces and it's interesting learning about them!

do these have sparkle in the glazes?
    18. Poirots_Moustacians Poirots_Moustacians, 10 years ago
They don't have sparkle in the glazes. You can see them here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-Drip-Glaze-Vases-1-Belgium-1-Brush-McCoy-Onyx-Vase-/301436010897?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item462efc8191 and here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Belgium-Faiencerie-Tulip-art-pottery-/231471417859?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item35e4c58a03. I'm actually not entirely sure the first is a Thulin.

What markings do the bottom of the two spouted pitcher have? I recently purchased one and in addition to the typical "Belgium" mark it had handwritten "06/13 Flamond JWC". The glaze is correct on mine so I don't think it's an aftermarket piece made from the mold, but rather an artist signed piece. Not sure though.
