We found these in the farm estate we purchased last winter, the same one I pulled the gong, Beatles books, and Willy's Jeep from. They are a pair of Jadite Foo Dogs with wooden bases. They weigh about 7lbs each and are not exactly the same, but pretty close. I don't know much about Asian collectibles so I threw them up in the attic until now, and they will be back there soon.
They are very dense and cool and creamy to the touch. Are these Jadite or Jade? I admit I'm clueless when it comes to these.
This kind of decorative pieces are really common in fengshui or "antique" shops along tourist streets. Highly doubt that they are Burmese jadeite or nephrite both commonly referred to as "jade".
Thank you Lee, Sean, Tony, Petey and Phil.
More likely bowenite, a type of serpentine.

My guess is, they're glass. I bought some bowls that were supposed to be jade. I didn't really believe it, but they looked like jadite glass, which I love. They are glass; exactly the color of old jadite, which I have some of, and since they weren't as described on eBay, I got all my money back, too, so it was free. I just got back from checking Google! Go there and search for Bowenite Foo Dog images! I found 2 white ones that may be like yours, and answer your question! I was doubting they were stone, but it looks like maybe so!
