I have had this decor in green for a while, but never a blue. They usually ran too high and I let them go. I managed to get this one at a good price. From 1906, Series II, Production Number 3835 blau Metallin optisch. This one is tastefully decorated with enamel. 6 1/2 inches tall. The paper pattern is from Loetz/Series II by Jitka Lnenickova.
Thanks for the loves everyone :)
I think the enamel really helps. Metallin is a decor that often benefits from silver overlay, as long as it's not completely covered in it.
You almost had competition on this one. Actually I like Metallin plain without decoration but on this piece it goes well.
Ah, but I did have competition on it. Fortunately not as much as usual for blue Metallin. The others that I tried to get approached or exceeded $1000, and I dropped out well before that. I think size has a lot to do with how much interest they tend to receive. anything near 10 inches will bring a lot.
Thanks Jerrod, it's just proof that if you wait long enough, the right one will come along eventually. That is true in most cases, but there are a few decors that you have to grab with both hands when they show up or you may never have another chance. If you want to collect Loetz, then look at all the Loetz auctions, not just the ones you want or can afford. That way you will learn to recognize the decors quickly, for when one shows up that is not correctly identified. And you will also know what price they sell for normally, in order to recognize when a high price may actually be a great deal.
