I have decided to introduce some of my Tiffany glass by posting this black 2-1/2 inch millifiori cabinet piece. It is black on a green ground which is by far the most common. Blue ground is the next most common, then very rarely a red ground under a black surface can be found. (1993)
stunning!!! beautiful!!!!
OMG WOWO!
Could you please post a picture of the underside? I'd be interested in seeing how the vase is finished off ... ground pontil? ground edge? etc.
Is this OK?
Much appreciated. Thanks.
I love this one. I have always been a bit suspicious of this form of the LCT Favrile signature; mostly because the full script L.C. Tiffany Favrile (or even spelled out Louis Comfort etc.) is so different in style (the f's are all backwards-script). But I also know that this is genuine Tiffany, so it shows that there was considerable variation to the L.C.T signature. This is an early signature, yes?
I believe the "C" following the number places the piece somewhere in the middle of the production years. Perhaps the amount of space available somewhat determines the length of the signature. I have a large Tiffany that is signed "Louis C. Tiffany Furnaces Inc. Favrile" plus the number.
