    Hello friends!

Loetz was famous for applied-glass decoration, and here I have a few groupings of this technique (although the middle-middle one, the PG 1/844, may have been done by pinching the glass instead of adding glass, but we'll ignore that for the moment). It also gives me a chance to show off another new one for me - the handled Candia Papillon, that is featured in all three photos. It also shows how Loetz used the technique in many different ways, although certain themes and symbols are used frequently (such as the applied-glass snakes). What would Jugendstil glass have been without applied features? Boring? Well, maybe not, but certainly not quite as interesting.

    Enjoy!

Thanks JayHow, I do appreciate your comments. I myself have learned a lot from the great people here on CW, and I think this is a wonderful forum for both viewing and learning about art glass. We all need friends, and friends that share your interests and show you support are the best kind. I too look forward to learning from my friends here on CW. (and that means you too Sean). Thanks! :)
