I remember getting this lunchbox for school after seeing the Disney movie "The Rescuers" at the drive-in with my parents and sibling as a kid. I loved that movie so much! Us kids sat in the backseat with the huge bag of homemade popcorn, store bought candies and soda (which we never were allowed to drink at home). I loved to hate the lady in it like most kids did I'm sure.
I think the only reason there are scuffs on the outside is because when I carried it on the bus I had to set it down on the floor. Otherwise it was housed in the lunch box area in class, wiped out at home immediately by my mom, and then stored inside a kitchen cabinet. I've moved over the years and always refused to depart of it no matter who I lived with.
Usually I carried a bologna, cheese or cold meatloaf sandwich inside with carrot sticks or chips and milk to drink. Until a couple weeks ago the thermos had my name on the thermos from one of those name makers that you could feed colored film into and emboss it.
The lunchbox has NO rust on it whatsoever, the metal clasp still works fine, the thermos holding clasp still moves and is in great working condition. The few scuffs that are on the inside are from removing the thermos to use it or clean it out or from items that were wrapped in aluminum foil like carrot sticks.
All these years later I've had a hard time departing with it and seriously thought about putting it on eBay, however, it's just one last bit of my childhood that I'm hanging onto. Maybe someday I will sell it when I know it's value is through the roof, but for now it's in remarkable shape and I hate to sell it for a couple bucks.
fun and great memories!!!!
Had both movies. The girls loved them
Cool lunchbox, I would keep it if I were you. I would love to have my original lunchboxes back again. That's part of your hiStory
