I found this cloth napkin or place mat tucked inside a box in my dad's garage among some old paintings and antiques.
I do not know if it is antique itself... seeking information on possible age, purpose, and origin.
Thanks!
It's written in French but not clear enough for me to read in my Alabamese-French. Those are apples on the tree & in the cart & Orleans is mentioned.
I can barely read but agree with fifties . They are peddlers shouting out . I can read in French Achetes mas "purchase my " and then can't make out next word . I also see a few words that look like they are in Creole . Nice piece !
and I believe " falourde" is French for a bundle or bunch of anything; also a bundle of material. It is not a term we use today is all I will say on it :-) I am sure we have some people who read French well that can tell you more and or correct my memory of French .
The language used in the U.N. Council is French. I've wondered before if maybe that's why the world is so screwed-up now!
Is it the really Blunder ? I have forgot who is head of UN now ?
French has always been their official language as I recall, because it scared me when I read/heard that.
Thanks for all of the comments so far. Please keep them coming! :)
