A before and after shot of a chalk ware Bossons head that shows what can be done to rescue them from the rubbish bin. A two dollar box of plaster, a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser, and a bonus color pack of Mr. Sharpies, transformed this unloved man into a usable piece again in less than an hour while watching television. Simply dust it off, mix an amount of plaster appropriate to fix the dings, about half an hour after patching, smooth and blend the patches to match the texture of it's surroundings, then in the last ten minutes, fill in the white plaster starting with lighter tones first, as you can build layers of color overtop of each other to match. Don't worry if it's not perfect as this adds character to the piece and by all means feel free to change the the colors to suit your taste.
When you are finished you will have a very displayable piece that will forever be one of a kind. Thanks for visiting!

"He" is a wall hanging plaque. Bossons of England makes/made them. I can remember my aunt's house had them in the hall in the 1960's, with her Toby mugs in the dinning room, I found them fascinating to look at as a child. I got him at a thrift shop where they have a free bin. Waste not want not! He joined two friends on the wall above a door. The distance between the viewer and the plaques makes them even better!

Love what you did. I see a lot of them at estate sales that are dinged and don't get bought. Always makes me sad because they look like such happy fellows. I bought one this weekend and the man kept calling it John Wayne.

Good looking job. Color matching is always a major issue. I have had good luck with markers in the short term but in the long run they tend to not do so well unless the surface has been sealed. I have seen murals painted with them on walls inside a home and if I hadn't seen it in the process I never would have believed it was done with sharpies. Amazing what can be done with them. Good job.
I go light to dark. It's hard to reverse it if you went too dark of a shade from the beginning. Thankfully Mr. sharpie has expanded significantly beyond the basic five pack; they make it very easy.
