My grandma's china purchase some time in the early 1900's. I have the complete set of 12 place settings with serving platters, covered serving bowls, etc. I have been searching on the internet for quite some time and I haven't seen any other designs like this. I am trying to find out the name of this pattern and the date of this item.
is this marked:)
Yes, it has a green marking on the back and says Johnson Bros with a green crown
Also says England on the back
Hello thankyou now you have given us members something to work on for you , but as a rule you should always post the markers mark of your item . Just a little FYI:) and thankyou for sharing :) could we see a picture of the markers marks please:)
Sorry, I'm new at this. I hope this worked and the marks can be seen. It is a very lovely set and in mint condition. I remember as a little girl my grandma would set the table with the dishes and sit, stare at them and sigh. She would never use them. Due to age some of the pieces have glazing (I think that is what you call it.)
I remember trying to research a similar piece fro another CW member who had a creamer. If you go to replacements.com., and in the search box type - Johnson Brothers pink floral swag, or garlands and you might find it. I will see what i can find too!
I have tried using replacements.com but not able to find anything. The stamp/mark dates the dishes to be around 1913. I have looked on eBay at 1798 listings for Johnson Bros. china and I can't find anything like it. I did find the Caspian design which is similar, but not it. I know that my grandmother saved for years to buy the china when she was a young lady prior to getting married.
That Johnson Brothers marks was in use from 1913 onwards, but I also could not find the same pattern, They were, and still are a very prolific company and as with many companies, a lot of the older patterns didn't have names, just numbers. I would presume it was new when your grandmother starting purchasing pieces, but doesn't look like you'll find the name of the pattern. You could try sending a pic to the company?
PS I think you were referring to "crazing" with age, not glazing.
