This variant of the Shiokumi motif is unusual. Instead of wearing the Eboshi hat, which is perched over her shoulders, she wears a crown of flowers. The seller told me that this darling beauty dates from the mid 1950's. This seems to be a popular Kabuki character in addition to it's portrayal in geisha dances. This variant I suspect is exactly that, a doll depicting a geisha interpreting the Shiokumi character. In the Kabuki theater, Shiokumi always wears the Eboshi hat.....
