I found this a long time ago. i can't even remember where. I think i'll plant it w/ lots of ferns coming out of it on all sides. Any ideas what it was used for?

thanks phildavidalexandermorris. i think it's too big and heavy for that and it also lacks anything to hang it with. i should have taken the photo along w/ something for scale. it's about 2 ft across and it's made of a much heavier gauge than moss baskets. i think it has an industrial use.

It reminds me of a laundry basket my mom had when we were kids, it sat inside a cart on wheels, so mom could push laundry over to machine and not have to bend over. Maybe? If so, missing cart part..... :-)
Like idea of a plant basket.

i think that this basket may be a laundry basket of sorts - possibly even part of an old-fashioned laundry machine. today, i hung it w/ this really cool pair of iron hooks, lined it w/ palm fiber and planted it out w/ dudleyas and southern maidenhair ferns. it should look pretty amazing in a few months.

I wonder if it possibly missing a larger ring for the bottom?.. Its hard to tell by the picture if the wires are the correct spacing to keep eggs in...
As a child we had something very similar to this, it was used to put freshly gathered eggs in then dunk and the basket and eggs into a larger pail for washing...
