    Revigator (ca. 1930)

The last of the of the Revigators. The two major departures from earlier versions are the white color and the fact that the legs are an integral part of the body of the jar.
The label on the Revigator states that it was patented July 16, 1912. This refers to U.S. Patent 1,032,951 taken out by Curt Schmidt, "a subject of the German Emperor," in which he describes the construction of such jars in very general terms. This is a very unique piece of Stoneware. Often found under Medical Quackery! During the early 1900's it was believed that when radium ore was added to drinking water it was "natures way to health". This is a magnificent example of a water cooler that was made for this purpose. This Revigator is in mint condition. The spigot is in excellent shape and fully functional. NO cracks or chip, with only a small bit of damage to the insignia on the front. The photo shows that a bit of the edge of the insignia is missing. Considering that the insignia is paper and the age of the Revigator, I think it is negligible. Manufactured by the leading Manufacturer of these jars at the time, this Revigator is a museum quality specimen. The interior of the jar is lined with radium ore, giving the interior a rough finish. T is a stamped label on the bottom which reads, Radium Ore, REVIGATOR, Pat Sept., 13, 1927 and the number DES. 73430. The left front of the label reads:KEEP JAR FILLED TO THE TOP CLEAN TWICE MONTHLY WITH STIFF BRUSH USE NO SOAP RADIUM ORE REVIGATOR CO. THE NAME REVIGATOR IS WRITTEN DOWN THE MIDDLE OF THE LABEL. The right side reads: THIS REVIGATOR RESTORES THAT VITAL NATURAL ELEMENT RADIOACTIVITY TO ALL WATER IN THE SAME AVERAGE STRENGTH AS THE MOST HEALTHFUL SPRINGS OF THE WORLD The jar stands 13 3/4" tall , with the lid it is 15" tall. The base, which is three legged, measures 10 1/2" across. The lid measures 7" across. The lid has instructions on how to use the jar printed on the underneath. 1. Fill Jar Every Night. 2. Drink Freely When Thirsty. And Upon Arising and Retiring. 3. Average Six Or More Glasses Daily. 4. Scrub With Stiff Brush Semi Monthly.

      How brilliantly awesome.

Quackery is what I also term as being a modern day doctor...but even this old piece beats them...Love it!

I looked at all your collectibles - very eclectic, very nice!
