Oh YEA! Today was Coca-Cola Ontario Chapter Pool party and I was lucky enough to bring this baby home!!!! Not sure if this is common sign in the US, but it seems rare in Canada. I asked/bugged several coke collectors at the pool party, and not many members have seen this sign before.
I got this sign from the same man that was nice enough to sell me the very rare Canadian carrier, and I think he gave me a very good deal on this. I was upset because I didn't have enough cash on me to pay him upfront, but being the very nice guy he is he spotted me the cash I was short just gotta pay him next time I see him. So I ended up paying 240$ upfront and now owe him 60$, plus a Canadian silver dollar (approx 13$ retail). I think 50% book price is very good deal on this sign, but not 110% sure.
Most my vertical signs are Canadian, made of tin, and dated. This sign is pretty different, its US, its made of ALUMINUM, and is not dated. Its made by a manufacture that members have not seen before. I was wondering if you guys have heard of " MCA Signs Massillion".
The condition and price of this sign is almost too good to be true, considering where I got it. If you look very close there's a couple small repairs/touch ups around the mounting holes, and I know it takes time and money to do that good of job. There was a couple other members interested in this sign, but I got to bring her home. Let me know what you guys think of it thanks in advance.
Thanks officialfuel! Any chance you have seen this sign before? Have you ever seen any aluminum vertical coca cola signs, from the 1940's?
Thanks Bill! Sorry if I was bugging you too much at the pool party today, was just trying to get as much info on this sign as possible.
You were not bugging me. You can ask all the questions you want and I'll do my best to answer them. I do want to point out however that it's not actually possible to be more than 100% sure about something.
Lol thanks Bill, yes I know I can't be 110%, but you know what i mean. I'm hoping, Perry, Tommy, Dave, Blaine, or Ray can let me know if they have seen this sign before. Nothing against you or Bill C. opinion just wanna know how rare this sign is in the US, ect.
The whole time I was at the pool party I kept starring at this sign, I actually couldn't stop thinking about it since I first saw it tues. I was very surprised I was able to bring her home and the whole ride home I was thinking what a great sign this is!
So just wanna make sure everyone knows this sign is NO longer for sale, only trying to find more info on it for myself and only myself.
Aluminium would be an unusual find for something made during that war. Maybe after when there was a lot of scrap? Sorry I missed the pool party!
Thanks blunderbuss2! Petrett's guide says its made 1948, but my sign is not dated, so wondering if it was made some time between 1945-1948?
Nice visual Ray! But in Trevor's defence, most of the "girls" there were closer in age to Trevor's Mom .
Thanks Ray!!!!! SOOOOOOOO glad to hear I got the real deal, I am SOOOOO surprised!!!!! Considering this sign is aluminum I'm sure alot of them got damaged badly, this one is still in excellent condition I had no idea they made aluminum signs in the 1940's.
And to your other comment, I was lmao off when I read it, but spriteboy right, all the other primary members are twice my age. There was two girls there close to my age, BUT the one I know was the sellers daughter, and the other i'm pretty sure is spriteboys daughter. I figure if I wanna stay on those guys good side I better not make a move on their daughters lol ;)
Thanks for the loves: smiata, Longings, Trey, & gargoylecollector!
That's a beauty alright, and if you keep clear of all the ladies you'll have plenty of cash for more signs like it!! Great grab, Trev.
Thanks Tom!
What a score! WTG Trev! Love it
Thanks Perry! I like the slogan on your sign better, but I think my sign is harder to find in this condition, considering the material its made of. I'm very very happy to own this sign, I was starting to think the deal I got was too good to be true. 300$ was his starting price, he didn't ask for any more, and wouldn't take any less. Now knowing that this is 110% original, I can't believe I even manage to get her.
...must...fight... VERTICAL SIGN ENVY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(sigh)
What a beaut.
Thanks Dave! I asked Spriteboy half way through the pool party what he thought of this sign, when we were inside the house ( the sign was out by pool, for party) and he said he didn't even noticed it. I know there was a bunch of signs outside for the pool party, I just thought for sure this beauty would jump out at him. Just about every other sign there was Canadian, so this sign really stuck out too me.
Again i'm very very happy to own this sign, and it is NOT for sale. Thanks everyone for your comments and letting me know I got a very good deal.

Hey Ray, I got picture of my new vertical hung with my other verticals. I think the others are not that bad condition look at them all displayed together, I think they look great. Its getting very hard to find these vertical signs, I wish I was as lucky as you and gotten them 30-40 years ago when they were worth next to nothing.
A true beauty! alway loved the spotlight design! great price for the condition too. Very nicee find trevor :)

I have a sign like this. Mine is dated 1948. You really scored on the price!!! I found mine in a small town in Idaho a couple years ago. They were asking $450, Loved it so much I purchased it for $400!
