I found this little vase or brush pot last week at a deceased estate. It's mark is a gold blob with the initial AP and Meibon Handgemalt which seems to be German.
Any ideas?
I have found the town in Germany called Meibon and it has a porcelain factory with porcelain called Meissen. Seems I am getting closer to finding a maker...fingers crossed.
And I must have had my blindfold on .Meissen are very sought after and famous porcelain..lol
It doesnt lead to the maker though.I can;t get past the village of Meibon
The city is Meissen! That funny letter that looks like a B is actually "standing in" for ss! Meissen is very collectable and always was rather on the expensive side! Handgemalt means decorated or painted by hand. Great find! :)
I forgot to mention: There are a lot of fake pieces out there. I have not seen one marked AP, only AR. But, regretfully, I don't know much about the subject. I hope this helps a bit:)
It came from a dutch lady deceased estate and she had a few other german porcelain pieces.I wish I had bought them now.
I got an email from a Meissen appraiser today who tells me I was on the right track. It was made in Meissen but is a copy and a nice one.Probably mid last century.
