This is my first post. Thanks to Blunderbuss for sparking my interest.
This native American beaded leather rifle scabbard is premium. It measures approximately 33" long X 5-1/2" wide. The fringe is approximately 18" long on both ends. Constructed of what appears to be deer skin and is very supple. Black and white beaded. All hand made. I don't even know what tribe it is from. I am interested in learning anything about this piece. I inherited it from my mother in 2001 and is part of a large Indian artifact collection. Value is estimated at $5000.00
    Cheers b

I thought it look like a rifle butt out the back, it's a lovely piece & coming from your mum who knows how long it's been in the family. Do you have Native American heritage.

Mani, in dire circumstances, you shoot thru the end of it & let the recoil help it come out.

Blunder only you lol :-) When Indian warrior gets home his wife shoots him for wrecking the scabbard she sewed on for a year ! <wink)

Thanks to all for your nice comments. There is a wooden gun stuck inside the piece.
I have no native heritage. Along with my mother I have always had an incredible appreciation for Native American culture. I have collected Indian artifacts most of my life. I inherited most of what I have today. More to follow. Thanks b

Bring it on bmg! Don't worry about these other CW clowns. They envy me since I've gotten rid of everything & don't have to lock my doors anymore.
