Set of 4, hand carved chairs, purchased at estate sale
In Texas at descendants home of the famed Gatlin gun.
All 4 are similiar but unique, the 3 legs are intertwined and carved
From a single piece of wood. Any info would be appreciated.
No sorry cannot help but what a stunning piece.
They are not for sale but any guess on value?
The way the legs are carved brings Murray Theuart to mind. I don't know if he did chairs and other furniture but he was like a magician when it came to carving items out of a single piece of wood. The chairs could just as easily be tramp art made by an immigrant. If they are hand carved I can tell you they are quite valuable. If they were hand carved and hand scraped an expert could tell you immediately. If it is tramp art or locally made folk art you probably will never learn who actually did the work. I know I love them.
I saw a chair or something with legs made like this & studied it & marveled at it. Really unique & appreciate your showing it.
