Hello friends. I wanted to present my latest find, and I am extremely happy with this one. This was a "buy it now" that was probably online for only a few minutes, because as soon as I saw it I pounced (ever so gently). This is a wonderful Loetz PG 377 vase from about 1901-1902 (?) and it is the two-tone variety, as opposed to the single (as in the smaller example in photo 3). Looking at the third photo you can also get an idea how BIG this one is; 11-1/2" (29 cm) tall! That's pretty big by Loetz scales. It also has very, very good iridescence in the middle and lower sections, as can be seen best in the 4th photo. This is a very good example of the genre. As I said, I am very happy.
Enjoy!
SIMPLY WOW!!!! Great score!!!
I love the depth of the dark blue & the way the other colours seem to pull it all together, to be creative would be wonderful
Zowie, me too!!! This is stunning and the colours are fabulous!!!
Thanks MSL21 and Zowie. :)
Can I ask...did the seller know what they had?
I don't know, but they did know it was Loetz and was very old. I do not believe they knew as much about Loetz as I do, if that's what you're getting at.
Thank you....I am still new to buying bohemian glass and that most sellers ..sell high for rare pieces like this one. I wondered if there is ever a chance that they would not know what they have? And if I would ever get the chance.... :))
Yes, you have to know what you're looking for and how much it's worth to get the bargains. And then you have to be patient, which is probably the hardest part. So keep looking and learning, and I'm sure you too will find some good ones. :)
dasullywon, thank you...for giving me hope...so far just going on pure luck:0
You're welcome, MSL21; and I forgot to mention that you already have some good ones, and I'd say you have more than pure luck on your side. :)
Thanks Gary and Kyle; it was quite the lucky find.

It's my pleasure always to say when something is beautiful.
dalsullywon, I look at pieces on the web and really do not know if they are genuine Loetz or not, they may claim to be, they may be asking a lot of money, but how do I really know - would I rely on catalogues or what? I would love a piece but would worry about being conned!!:)
Justanovice: That is a very good question, and in fact I think it is getting harder to pick the genuine from the imitation, especially since so many copies are being made now. And then there are the real ones that are not genuine auctions, which are even harder to spot. So how do you know you are getting a real antique and won't get "conned"? I wish I had a short answer for that; but I will say it helps to know whom you are buying from, or at least make sure they have good and recent feedback. eBay does have very good buyer protection, so that helps. But it does take a certain leap of faith to send off big bucks to a stranger on the strength of a few pictures (often blurry) and some encouraging (or not) words. I have had good experiences and a couple of bad, but it has all paid off. So go for it! :)
I was wondering who snagged this one! What a great example of this decor. I love it when you can see both the Lava/brains and the cobalt glass. Nice size, nice color and a great buy! Congratulations!
Thanks LoetzDance; I knew it wouldn't last so I did "snag" it fast. I was just looking at it again, and the cobalt glass is wonderful! I am very happy, as I said. Thanks again for the comments.
AND SIGNED !
That's right, Frank, signed too! As I looked at the ad my eyes got bigger and bigger!
Thank you for your reply dasullywon! Most appreciated!:)
