I picked this up at a yard sale. I just really liked it and was curious about it but have been unable to find any information on it. I don't even know for sure what creature it is. Not sure if it is a toy box or planter. It is a harder/feels more brittle? plastic than the elephant that looks like this. This is glazed on the inside. It has a number 2 on the bottom and a hole. It has some lines in the bottom as well it almost looks like a tires tread. Over the pouch hole in the front it looks like there may have been something connected there. One person told us that they thought there was something like this years ago that was a toy box that had an apron that covered the hole. One person also thought that a pottery company may have made it but I was unable to find any information. We just can't find any information. Please help us! I will even provide more pictures if necessary. Candeetokar@yahoo.com Thank you!

Maybe a toss game? Maybe the piece that you think may be missing was a cover with a smaller hole for the ball or bean bag? Maybe the cover piece could then be lifted to retrieve the thrown objects?

Also, is that animal kibble or Cherrios in the bowl? I only ask because this thing would scare the #@%& out of my animals and they would never get that close.

However, I think it's great and I would have definitely brought it home.

Do you know anything about the elephant toy box that looks like it? I am also interested in any information about them.

I do know what it is! I sold one many years ago in NJ. It's a kangeroo hamper girl. It used to have an apron around the hole in front. You would lift the apron up and put baby clothes in. I brought mine in 1981 at a place called Discount Harrys which is no longer in business. Please let me know if this helps you.

Hello! I had one as a child and would line it for my children. If you are interested in selling keep me in mind. Thanks!

I have the kangaroo hamper, the elephant toybox, and the giraffe coatrack, all made by the same company. There is also a matching elephant table lamp! They were made in the 70s. have seen them attributed to the Sun Rubber Company, which was known for its squeak toys, but I have never been able to confirm this.

I had this hamper in my room as a very small child. It was also used as a toybox at times. It used to have an apron that covered the hole. Loved it so much.
