Very nice Don ! and unusual . It looks to be the Virgin Mary and Jesus ,but who would ever have sculpted him nursing took a lot of guts since it would not have gone well I think with the Church . You always find such Unique pieces . Love it !!!**

Thanks walksoftly! Simon was as cute as the Geico Lizard was when he was a baby!! AND Thanks Manikin, I think it is the Virgin Mary, but wondering why the one gold pillow under one foot!

This is the image of Our Lady of La Leche. The movement started in Spain in the 1500's. There are many pieces of art depicting Mary nursing the Christ Child, but this statuette is a match of the description I have read.

Thank you jodie! Makes sense La Leche! I will study Our Lady!! Spain was in Columbia from 1400's or 1500's, although this is much newer!! Thanks again!!

That is cool ! Great job Jodie . Now toracat you have a nice nursing mother and keep Simon away from HER ! It all makes sense who else would make a statue of a Mother other than the Holy Quail behind all the teaching on nursing "Le Leche " Love it
