My lovely floor lamp

I love this vintage bakelite floor lamp that i found on the street!
I'd dearly like to know more about the company that made it, or the lamp itself.
The company name is Electrolite products Melbourne, but i can't find any info at all about them on the net, perhaps because I'm not very skilled in researching/surfing. My guess is that it is from the late 50's or early 60's?
It has a nasty crack in the bakelite base, so if anyone can give me lead on how to fix that, or where to have it fixed, i'd love that too. It works, although it blew my fuses when i plugged it in, so got to have it looked at. It is remarkably good condition i think, as it obviously has few decades under it's belt.
