Seth Thomas art deco style wood mantle clock.
Chime no 57 is on label on bottom. Also movement is 124.
Approx width 8 1/4 x 10 1/2 x 6 1/4, rectangular. The picture is a bit misleading, it is quite big and heavy!

We think it might be from the 1920s or 1930s but haven't seen any others like it online.

I like that the face is square like a wristwatch!

Hi. As you've already told us you have a Seth Thomas Chime No. 57 from circa 1936. Your clock should have a Seth Thomas No. 124 mechanical movement. They also offered this identical clock case with an electric movement. That clock was called the "Falsbury". Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the info! Have you seen others like this?

It would be quite a big case for electric movement.

You're welcome Linda. No, I haven't seen either version of this clock in person before. Just to keep things interesting, Seth Thomas did also make a Chime No. 57 "Sonora" Westminster Mantel Clock. :) Here's a photo: http://p3.la-img.com/289/16218/5438818_1_m.jpg

The old electrically powered movements weren't that small, especially chime movements which still used quite a few mechanical parts.

If your mystery has been "solved" please indicate that in your listing. If you have any more questions, let us know.

When I did a search for the "Falsbury" model, this curved-top clock came up:

      What do you think?

I think that Seth Thomas recycled "Falsbury" and "Chime No. 57" to include two other case models. You know that you have a mechanical Chime No. 57 which should have a Seth Thomas Chime Movement No. 124 (one of their workhorses...very widely used in their chime clock lines), it is definitely from circa 1936. Is your mystery solved?

      Thanks Bruce99!

You're welcome LindaM. This model may not be rare, but I don't think it's common either. Not sure. Bet it has wonderful acoustics in that large case. Thanks for sharing your chime clock. :)
