Victorian hand carved "whatnot"

I grew up with many of these items, but it wasn't until the past 10 years that I've truly had an interest in learning about them. It helps me feel close to some of the people I've lost. Most of the items my family collected, like this Victorian hand carved "whatnot" were from the Victorian era. It's in wonderful shape considering how awkward it is to move, with all of its finials and carvings still intact. It displays gifts from children, heirlooms passed down, and odd items found through the years. I'm hoping to find out if anyone can give me more info on it.
