these have always been a mystery to me. The design is a simple white confetti with mica and the decor is a grid of "powder glass" in black. the color comes from the casing color- light blue. Two of these are satin finished and they look older (maybe thas just the finish but the design does look better)... the first one is ornamented with french metal work as seen in lamps etc...

p.s. the last one is similar to a pattern that appears with three fern leafs in relief and appears with the OOF mark

    Unsolved Mystery

Well, the third photo is the same picture as shown under Kralik ball vases at http://www.kralik-glass.com/kralikballvases.html and Kralik is what I thought as soon as I saw it...your first photo looks very similar to it to me, as well. I am not sure about the second photo - it seems quite different from the others, but it could be the photo? I hope this helps a little!

thanx michelle, the first and third are similar and the second and fourth are similar.

#3 is in the kralik shape study but it has a pontil (most do not) and the rim is flared more. that is the whole point in shape studies.... to look at them over and over until the subtle things are obvious

you might be right about #2 because it is smaller than you usually find these.

This is Harrach "Brocatglass" made from 1888 onwards in various colors, for details read eg Neuwelt page 258 ff

Hi Jericho, sorry - I thought the link was for ball vases identified as Kralik decors, and not just a shape study; that it has a pontil is interesting. It sounds like kairomalte id'd your vases - I am finding this forum to be so helpful!

      Hi Jericho,
you will not find an exact match of your decor in "Neuwelt, 300 years..." but the details of "Brocat" glass are described in the text on page 258 left column and related examples are shown on page 266.307 ,282.331, 283.334

Funny, I hit an image file yesterday with 4 or 5 of these, could not remember taking them, then I realised these were your Jericho, part of what you gave me a few years ago, I see now where Harrach comes in after reading this.

I also don't think it's Harrach, that last shape on the right reminds me of something else you have posted, but can't place it at the moment.

The page 258, about the BROCAT decor by Harrach, has a footnote 452, that says this text was from a 1891 publication regarding 2 other decor names, Dessine and Damask, it also follows to explain that Missouri in aquamarine blue with aluminum specks on page 266, and a second vase called dessine design, which has powder applications to form leaf and twig design, also with specks.

None show this color or this powder application in lines, vertical and horizontal.

Very interesting. It reminds me of one of my vases, which I have classified as Harrach. see: http://www.bohemianglass.org/katalog/vaza-vrstvene-sklo-zataveny-dekor-2550/detail/
